So you want to be a shiny hunter? Well I'm going to give you personal tips and tricks so you can hunt and not fail a shiny when you find one.
Things you will need.
- ds, gameboy sp (never do shiny hunts on a advance because the batteries could die while trying to catch your shiny pokemon.), and/or 3ds. since you are just beginning I recommend one system for now until you get use to the techniques.
- a main series pokemon game from 3rd gen up. you can do 2nd gen but due to how the battery is on the game I highly suggest 3rd and up.
- time and patience. for example if you are in a sport and you have to g t a meet soon hunt after the meet or if you are going to go out with friends/family wait till you get back. This way when you are hunting you don't lose track of time.
- some where comfortable, you are going to be there awhile so make sure you are comfortable where you are.
- something to watch, eat, and drink. shiny hunting can be boring, so put on a movie or watch youtube or twitch. I recommend snacks and drinks they are not needed but something to watch is trust me.
- pokemon i recommend to use as tools. lanturn it can learn thunderwave which will be used a lot, tropius it can use fly and sweet scent, and octillary for suction cups you can also give this surf and dive if you want water hunts.
now that you have the basics what do you need to do? well I'm not going to cover the types of hunting unless the tip relates to said method.
tips and tricks.
- the number one lost of shiny pokemon is they lower the hp of the shiny. "but fang! lowering hp makes it easier to catch!" true however crits happen, you run the risk of getting a crit, it using a recoil move, or running out of pp thus using struggle. Instead start each battle with a quickball, if it fails use a thunderwave and just throw balls.
- when people encounter a shiny there is a very common mistake of slamming the ds shut or going to the home menu to try and make a video. Don't do this. slamming the ds can freeze your game thus losing the shiny and going to home if your finger slips on the wrong button you will close your game. if you want to make a video just grab what ever you use to record and just start, people will know it's shiny so don't worry about wanting live sparkles.
- when you encounter a shiny in ds titles a common lost of shiny is they hit the run button no looking. instead take your right hand off the ds and rest your left index finger on the edge near the bag button.
-when it comes to horde it's actually easier then you think to find which one is shiny. your pokemon sits in the middle of five enemy pokemon on the attack screen. the two to the right and left are the ones on the end, the one in front of your pokemon is the one in the center say the shiny is on the far right. start with the left and slowly work your way around. The key word being slowly.
-for pokemon radar in both 4th and 6th wear headphones in one ear. sound is important in these hunts so headphones will help largely. the same goes for chain fishing to listen for the sound of a catch.
-if you are doing soft reset rubber bands, this is a given but it's removing them that can be dangerous as you might soft reset over the shiny. careful grab the top part of your ds/gameboy and with your other hand place it on the bottom and slowly pull off the band while holding the ds steady.
-fossil resets look over every fossil at least twice.
-if you encounter a pokemon with the moves dragontail, roar, or teleport dont use the quickball first turn, instead send out your suction cup pokemon (make sure it's a higher level then the pokemon) this will make it so these pokemon can not get away from you.
And these are my personal tips and tricks to some basic shiny hunting for beginners. Hopefully this also can help some veteran hunters as well!
Also this isnt related to hunting but still a update for my watchers so not interested don't read this part.
(also note that story updates will start next week. Im busy this week)

Break update
hello everyone it's been awhile. anyway since it's been almost a month I figured I'de at least give you guys an update on things and a possible schedule for when i'll actually reply and talk to things.
-I'm working on moving and we are almost ready. we still need to move a bunch of things around in the house, and clean the carpets but I'll be moved by the first of next month.
- motivation to draw is still in the stinker but I am making some attempts when I do feel motivated to work on technics.
- life is still fucked up. but can't do anything on that end until after the move.
-been playing final fantasy 15 to help relax me and get me moti
A break
I'm gonna be taking a bit of a brake for awhile. I won't be replying to notes or comments or anything like that for awhile. I'm gonna work on my Technic a bit and thinking about things and working on my life. but when I get back to actually focusing hopefully i'll have a big art nuke for both my accounts. I'm not sure how long I'll be back but I will be. this is something Ive been considering for awhile but recent life events and big decisions I need to make I rather just keep my attention on that. I know this journal is a mess but so are things. Also don't worry about me before I get comments.
sun and moon warning
If you get the one of these new pokemon games DO NOT download them, it takes 24,000 blocks which is pretty much a whole sd card.
